Special interests
My PhD focussed on the health related quality (HRQoL) of haemodialysis patients in the North West of England, with particular emphasis on whether the achievement of UK Renal Association biochemical guidelines has an effect on HRQoL scores. I have also developed an interest in patients suffering with rare renal disease through working on the MRC Membranous Nephropathy study.
Brief biography
I began working as a renal nurse in Sheffield at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital before moving on to the Sheffield Kidney Institute where I gained experience in all aspects of renal nursing i.e. CAPD, HD and transplantation. To develop my skills in research I moved to Manchester Royal Infirmary in 2000 where I worked on the Study of Implementation of Renal Standards (SIRS) study. After the study was completed I secured a post in nurse education that involved the delivery of the Renal Course at the University of Manchester but still maintained my interest in research by my undertaking a PhD.
